Veelgestelde vragen

  • How do I order?
The order goes through a natural stone worker who measures the project, manufactures it according to plan in his workshop and comes to install it. The natural stone worker orders concrete slabs directly from Kwantz. At "distributors" you can find our partner natural stone workers.
  • Where can I view the colour options?
The different concrete colours can be seen in the workshop of Kwantz or at our partner natural stone workers. It is best to make an appointment for this.
  • What about air bubbles in concrete? Can these be filled?
The presence of small air bubbles is inherent to concrete. These are only visible in sawn edges or in cut-outs of an undermount sink. You can choose to keep this natural character or ask the natural stone worker to fill them.
  • What are the dimensions of the concrete slabs?
The ultra-strong concrete slabs from Kwantz come in one standard size, namely a length of 3260 (+/- 2 ) mm, width 1383 (+/- 2) mm and a standard thickness of 25 (+/- 1) mm. A thicker-looking concrete worktop can be achieved by working with mitered edges.
  • Do I need to treat a concrete countertop after installation?
We recommend treating the concrete kitchen worktop daily with impregnating stainstop during the first week after installation, after which periodic maintenance can be carried out. This does not close the concrete 100%, so that the stone still has the chance to "breathe". This means that certain substances can still penetrate after some time and cause a darkening. This needs time to evaporate back out. However, the (periodic) after-treatment with impregnating agent will ensure that greases and dirt cannot penetrate the material as quickly. For designated maintenance products, please refer to our user manual at downloads. TIP! Wipe off stains and splashes with a damp cloth and do not allow to dry.
  • How do I clean my concrete kitchen worktop?
Concrete belongs to the family of calcareous stones (such as bluestone, marble, travertine) that require a specific maintenance. Therefore, descaling products should be avoided when cleaning the concrete kitchen worktop. Your countertop is best cleaned with a neutral degreaser or with water and natural soap. This way greases cannot accumulate on your concrete countertop. Acid degreasers based on vinegar and lemon should not be used, because they descale the concrete, which can cause white spots. Use products that are suitable for cleaning calcareous (natural) stone.
  • What should I pay attention to with a concrete kitchen worktop?
Kwantz is an ultra-strong concrete and belongs to the family of calcareous materials. The stone lives, evolves and will possibly get a patina with time. Please note: just like calcareous natural stones, concrete is sensitive to acids! So it is best to clean up spilled vinegar, red wine or lemon immediately, because these can permanently damage the countertop. Furthermore, it is best to keep the surface dry after each use, and do not allow wet (coloured) liquids to stand for a long time, such as a wet planter, a damped bottle of detergent or a coffee cup with coffee under it.
  • Can I cut on my concrete worktop?
The surface of Kwantz concrete is very scratch-resistant, but it is not harder than, for example, steel. In any case, the use of a cutting board with any type of worktop is recommended to maintain the character of the material.
  • Can I put a hot pan on my concrete countertop?
It is recommended to use a coaster with hot pots or pans.
  • How do I maintain concrete in the bathroom?
Just like for concrete kitchen countertops, it is recommended to impregnate your stone. This will simplify cleaning. You can clean Kwantz in the bathroom with a soft sponge and a cleaning agent that is specially intended for cleaning natural stone. Use little detergent and brush over the concrete surface until all lime and soap residue is gone. To clean taps and shower head, use a limescale cleaner by applying it to a cloth (but certainly not by spraying it directly). This will prevent the concrete from being damaged.
